1. Introduction

Welcome to Lifegard! These Terms and Policies govern the use of the Lifegard system and mobile app, which provide funeral insurance management solutions for companies and users. By accessing or using Lifegard, you agree to these terms.

2. Definitions

• “System” refers to the Lifegard web application and mobile app.
• “User” refers to individuals registering for funeral insurance plans via the Lifegard app.
• “Funeral Company” refers to businesses registered on Lifegard to offer funeral insurance plans.
• “We,” “Our,” or “Us” refers to Lifegard and its operators.

3. Services Provided

For Users:

• Register and manage funeral insurance plans.
• Pay premiums securely through integrated payment gateways.
• Update contact details, add covered members, and view plans.

For Funeral Companies:

• Manage customer accounts, insurance plans, and claims.
• Monitor payments and financial transactions from a central dashboard.
• Securely receive payments via Lifegard’s integrated system.

4. Payment Terms

• All payments are processed through PayFast, and their applicable fees are deducted before the funds are disbursed to funeral companies.
• Users are responsible for ensuring sufficient funds in their accounts to cover premium payments.
• Funeral companies can withdraw amounts exceeding R1,000. Lifegard retains a service fee for each transaction.

5. User and Company Responsibilities

Users:

• Provide accurate personal information during registration, including your full name, ID number, email, and phone number.
• Maintain secure access to your account by keeping your password confidential.

Funeral Companies:

• Ensure all provided information, including CIPC registration and contact details, is accurate and up to date.
• Protect sensitive customer data accessed through the Lifegard platform.

6. Data Privacy and Security

• Lifegard complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) to safeguard user data.
• User and company information will not be shared with third parties without consent.
• All transactions are encrypted and processed securely.

7. Limitations of Liability

Lifegard is not responsible for errors resulting from inaccurate data provided by users or companies. Lifegard is not liable for losses incurred due to third-party payment gateway malfunctions.

8. Account Suspension and Termination

Lifegard reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for non-compliance with these Terms and Policies. Users and companies may terminate their accounts by contacting Lifegard support at support@lifegard.co.za.

9. Intellectual Property

Lifegard retains ownership of all system designs, logos, and software. Unauthorized use or duplication is prohibited.

10. Amendments to Terms

Lifegard may update these Terms and Policies at any time. Users and companies will be notified of changes via email or system notifications.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.

Our Story

Lifegard was created with the goal of providing an all-in-one solution to address some of the critical challenges faced by funeral insurance companies and customers. The idea emerged in 2019, when Isaiah Sibeko was working to develop a solution for a local funeral insurance company in Orange Farm. After a series of challenges in backend development, the project was paused. However, after gaining more experience in software development and overcoming previous setbacks, Isaiah decided to bring Lifegard back to life and make it a platform that could support a wide range of funeral insurance services across South Africa.

Funeral companies can register on our system and manage their plans, claims, and financials from a centralized dashboard. For users, Lifegard provides an easy-to-use interface to sign up for any funeral plan from a variety of registered companies, manage premiums, add covered members, and update contact details.
